Cherry Leaf Coffee House: sweetening you up this winter!

Cherry Leaf Coffee House is looking to treat the people of Norwich to all the caffeine, tea, and sugary drinks you could ever need with a side of baked goods and smiles aplenty.

The idea of Cherry Leaf Coffee House, based on St. Giles Street, began brewing in the minds of the father and daughter duo when Gemma found herself unsatisfied with her job hunt after working at an insurance company for three years. She then began to consider the benefits of being her own boss and remembered enjoying barista work. So, she ultimately decided to start up her own coffee house with her father.

Gemma decided to base her new coffee house in Norwich as that is what felt most like home to her, being as she had lived in Norwich her entire life.

The journey to creating Cherry Leaf Coffee House hasn’t been the easiest, however. Gemma explained: “The first lockdown was a real blow for us as we had only taken on the business for about three months before it happened. It wasn’t the year we had expected to have. However, we used our cake baking to our advantage and offered cake deliveries and take-away in and around Norwich and postal cake deliveries within the UK.

“After the first few weeks and months, with the power of social media, repeat customers and word of mouth the deliveries quickly took off. Dad soon became the delivery man for us and even drove all the way to Cambridge to hand-deliver a postal box for a birthday”

The Cherry Leaf Coffee House managed to gain new social media followers and customers with their lockdown courier service, gaining a loyal and devoted fan base.

Gemma and her father took the opportunity of the first lockdown to finish re-decorating, where they’ve created a whole new look!

Now, they’re looking to the future when this second lockdown ends. Worry not- Gemma and have father and reopening their delivery service so you can still receive your daily dose of sugar. Gemma is looking to create delicious homemade soups just in time for the winter chill.

When this dreaded lockdown does finally get lifted, why not book a place at Cherry Leaf Coffee House- they’re taking bookings for Hen Parties, Afternoon Teas, Wedding Receptions, Birthday Parties or even just small get-togethers with friends, which would be so lovely after so much time away from one another.

Why should you go to Cherry Leaf Coffee House? Well, not only is the atmosphere of the cafe itself relaxing and quiet, the perfect escape from Norwich’s city centre, but they also offer freshly made cakes with gluten free and vegan options. Not to mention your furry friends are also welcome- you might even spot Gemma’s very own golden retriever plodding along (he demands belly rubs and plenty of love).

When asked what Gemma loves about her brand new business and career, she said: “I love working in a job where you get to bake for a living- I’m pretty sure most people would love that! After being in a job where people only spoke to you because they had a car crash and needed help but didn’t really want to be having to speak to you, it is nice to work in an environment where customers want to come and want the service and products you are providing to them.”

Don’t just take our word on how amazing the place is, Cristina Arrondo Coll, a customer of Cherry Leaf Coffee House, said: “The cakes were amazing! As a coffee lover and a gluten-free gal is not often that I am able to enjoy both in one place. We actually had breakfast here two days in a row from how delicious and great everything was. Both ladies were lovely and friendly.”

Georgia Stephenson also said: “I wish I’d come in here sooner! One of the best hot chocolates that I’ve found in Norwich and the food is also very tasty. My friend loved her chicken pesto wrap and I loved the humous and veggie wrap that I got. I really recommend this place as the staff was lovely and it’s a very cosy cafe. I honestly have no complaints!”
