Moving On

Lockdown has brought many changes to our high streets. Sadly, Lynn Turner of Cake & Catwalk in Ipswich has decided to call it a day. We feel particularly sad at Vanilla because we launched our businesses within a few months of each other, back in 2010. Lynn has also been a passionate campaigner for independent small businesses, something dear to our hearts.

We caught up with Lynn on her last trading day, Saturday 25th July. Here she tells us what was behind her decision…

After 10 lovely years I have decided to close my shop. I have mentioned previously that I want to make some changes in my life and the timing seems to be serendipity! Cake & Catwalk will still have a strong online presence, I will do pop ups, and events and be keeping my eye out for a mini outlet with a destination attraction.

I think you will all agree that these are difficult and strange times and the expense of having a shop is a big financial burden and a risk, along with an uncertain future ahead. I opened for nearly a month post lockdown, but sadly, trade and footfall was not what I had hoped for, or to justify the expense.

On the bright side! I am online with new products with seasonal stock being added. I deliver free in Ipswich and surrounding area. I will also drop off anything to you personally provided you email me with your desired items, leave them with you and collect the next day. Great for trying on and without the bother of the normal online service if something does not fit or you don’t like. When this pandemic ends I can also do styling parties in your home.

By following me on the social media and signing up to my emails you will get to know where and when I will be and whats happening that you may like to get involved with. Thank you for all the fun we have had with events in the garden and all the fashion shows. I am looking forward to doing more in the future.
