Lisa Taylor: Counselling and Wellbeing

Lisa Taylor is a qualified (Dip. Couns) counsellor, MNCS  (Accred), and runs her practice in Manningtree. She is offering general counselling to individuals from age 13 upwards, including couples therapy and life coaching specializing in bereavement, chronic pain, and illness management.

Through her extensive voluntary work with The Miscarriage Association, Samaritans, St Helena Hospice and Fibromyalgia Action UK, Lisa found that the work inspired her to learn more about how best to support people and so she embarked on four years worth of training to get her Diploma in counselling and Psychotherapy in 2014.

Lisa said: “I always felt it was important to be able to help others feel they are not alone, it is not weakness to need help and to learn to accept who they are. I really enjoy working as an Integrative therapist including working with play and creative therapy as I can pull learning from many theories and ideas to best enable the client.”

Due to Covid restrictions, Lisa is operating remotely, offering online Zoom sessions to support her clients from anywhere but she is looking forward to when she can see her clients face-to-face again.

“I know there are many counsellors out there but I believe the difference with me is my understanding of the power of being human and imperfect. I believe in the relationship between counsellor and client that informs the process and allows for trust and acceptance. By building that trust the client learns how to trust in themselves and their own ability to manage situations and thrive in life,” Lisa said.

With everything going on at the moment all the supportive charities and mental health industry are trying to raise awareness and acceptance that it is okay to not be okay and to not feel ashamed to reach out for support and with the help of Lisa, you can begin to find your way through difficulty and be supported in your journey to coping and better mental health.

She continued: “I love what I do, not only do I support others in finding their own way to cope and thrive reaching their goals I learn from every person I see and speak to and feel inspired every day. Good mental health and unconditional acceptance still even in this day and age are not available to everyone so I enjoy my part in bringing that to people.”
