Ipswich School Continues as Top Independent School in Suffolk

Ipswich School is delighted to be named in this year’s Sunday Times Parent Power report as the top independent school in Suffolk – for the fifth year running – and in the top 150 independent schools in the country.

The report, which ranks schools by their top A Level and GCSE exam grades, was published this weekend (Sunday 29 November 2020). Due to the exam disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s report chooses to use the 2019 exam data.

Nicholas Weaver, Headmaster of Ipswich School, said: “This year’s Parent Power report once again confirms Ipswich School’s place as the top independent school in Suffolk, and reflects the school’s consistently outstanding academic achievement.”

Reflecting on the Covid-19 pandemic which forced the cancellation of this summer’s exams, Mr Weaver added: “I have been so proud of the way in which our pupils have risen to the challenges provided by the global pandemic. They engaged with our remote learning and embraced the additional teaching and pastoral support we provided once the 2020 exams were cancelled. We continue to provide our pupils with a wealth of co-curricular activities in music, sport and drama so that they are supported and stretched to reach their potential both inside the classroom and out of it, ensuring that our pupils are the best prepared for the world beyond school.”

Ipswich School is holding entrance assessments on Saturday 16 January for pupils who are interested in joining the school in Year 7 next September. Full details are available on the school’s website: www.ipswich.school/senioradmissions. A range of scholarships and bursaries are available to assist families.
