Crystal Rose Feminine Health Clinic: Vaginal Rejuvenation

It can be almost impossible to get help on the NHS for some female issues; one of those is the changes to the structure and tightness of the vagina that can be exacerbated by hormonal changes and childbirth. Sadly, many women believe that bladder incontinence, pelvic floor weakness and loss of tone and tightness in the vagina are just something that they have to live with.

The Crystal Rose Feminine Health Clinic is delighted to be able to offer a solution to the problem, with the help of expert consultant gynecologist Dr. Fakher Gendy. He offers a range of treatments that fall under the feminine health category (a full list is available on his website) including vaginal rejuvenation, a service that the Crystal Rose Feminine Health Clinic has been keen to be able to offer, as owner Rosy Boulton has seen first-hand the trauma and discomfort women suffer, mostly in silence, during her NHS nursing career.

Vaginal tissue is just like any other type of skin tissue, in that it’s supported by collagen, which keeps it strong and supple. Menopause, stress and childbirth can weaken the collagen fibers. Along with a loss of pleasure during sexual intercourse, this laxity can lead to dryness and even incontinence, pain and discomfort.

WHAT PROBLEMS CAN VAGINAL REJUVENATION HELP WITH?

● Loss of muscle strength, tone, and elasticity in vaginal area
● Loss of sensation during intercourse
● Urinary incontinence
● Vaginal dryness

ADVANTAGES OF VAGINAL REJUVENATION

● No surgery is required
● It’s pain-free and no anesthetic is required
● It’s safe with no side-effects
● It only takes about 30 minutes
● Results are immediate

● Effects can last up to two years
● No down-time

WHAT DOES VAGINAL REJUVENATION INVOLVE?

Vaginal rejuvenation is a non-invasive, non-surgical aesthetic treatment that involves HIFU (High-Intensity Focussed Ultrasound). Unlike surgical treatments, like vaginoplasty, there are no side effects and no downtime, and a treatment takes just 20-30 minutes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

An ultrasound device, emitting HIFU, is used directly on the vaginal walls. HIFU ‘rejuvenates’ the tissue by activating collagen biosynthesis. Treated areas are tightened and toned, with improved elasticity. Improved moisture levels help to reduce any itching, dryness or burning that can be associated with hormonal changes in menopause. These results should make intercourse more comfortable and enjoyable.

IS VAGINAL REJUVENATION
SUITABLE FOR ME?

Although the treatment is perfectly safe, as with all aesthetic treatments, there are things to be aware of and it might not be suitable for everybody:

● The treatment is suitable for women over the age of 30
● It is suitable for women with a BMI of 35 and under
● Not advised for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
● Wait at least three months after a normal childbirth before booking a treatment
● You will need to have had a normal cervical smear result within the last three years
● Treatments can’t be carried out during your period (or any other bleeding)
● Not suitable for women who have a copper IUD inserted
● Not suitable for women with a history of genital cancer

BEFORE AND AFTER

Dr. Gendy carries out a thorough consultation so he can assess what treatment is needed. Consultation appointments
are only available on specified dates – the next one scheduled is on Monday 15th February. Procedures do not require any special preparation but we must exclude infection first, so patients will need to have a urine test and a vaginal swab prior to the treatment. After the procedure, patients can return to their daily activities but should not undertake sexual activity for about 4 weeks.
