Meet: Harry’s Soul Train

Harry’s Soul Train is the new fast-moving family-run food truck that’s made the best of a bad time in Norwich.

Marc and Donna decided to buy and renovate their newly bought trailer after they were furloughed at the beginning of Covid-19.

We started with a white burger van and rebuilt it from the inside out doing as much as we could ourselves. Our son, Harry, is a budding chef and we would love to have his name above his own restaurant in a few years time.”

The couple have been catering for over 20 years and have always dreamed of having their own catering business on wheels.

“We were inspired by fellow restaurant owners Rechel and Ecky Limon, owners of Blue Joanna another local family run business, seeing them pull together and turn their restaurant into the fab place it is today is a real inspiration and made us take the plunge.”

Harry’s Soul Train offers a wide range of soul food from around the globe. They’ve taken their three favourite street foods, chicken wings, tacos and falafel, and infused them with nine homemade sauces. They also offer gluten-free, veggie and vegan options so that they can cater to everyone in the community.

“There is no other street food menu like ours. We have taken our three main dishes and turned them into 50 Taste tingling combinations that everyone can try.”

Marc and Donna also have a strong love for the Norwich community and want to bring a bit of spice and flavour to it one bite at a time.

We love meeting new people and working with other businesses and communities throughout this pandemic to bring a bit of joy through our food and hopefully our personalities have been amazing enough to keep people coming back.”

Harry’s Soul Train has even started up a few street food evenings, such at Street food Saturdays at The Wheel of Fortune in Alpington,  as well as working with a few community takeaway stops with local businesses like Oakland organic eggs in Horsford.

“We have also been working with The Whalebone Freehouse on Magdalene road for the last five weeks on Wings Wednesday serving up our tasty tacos, juicy wings and fruity falafels to the pubs guests and local community. Due to the great feedback from our customers the pub has now offered us a permanent spot for four nights a week, so we will be able to continue to serve their customers and the greater community and support each other in these strange times.”
