Back To School With Norwich Theatre’s New Autumn Term

As the summer holidays draw to a close, Norwich Theatre’s new autumn season of creative activities is about to begin. So embrace the new season with creativity with a whole host of activities to boost your wellbeing.

Norwich Theatre has a full programme of workshops to help you de-stress from your day and become part of our theatre community. These include brand new wellbeing workshops, a programme of events exploring motherhood, and an opportunity to create your own piece of theatre.

Sam Patel Head of Creative Engagement at Norwich Theatre, said:

“Creativity is a vital tool to boost our wellbeing, offering us space to express feelings and thoughts we might not always be able to. Our skilled practitioners will guide you through each session and help you explore the creative process. You’ll leave brimming with confidence and a smile on your face!”

Come and unwind with Norwich Theatre, a series of wellbeing workshops dedicated to helping you de-stress from your day. Unwind with Movement (8 Sep – 6 Oct) will help you connect the mind and body with meditation, gentle dance movements and breathing techniques. Unwind with Words (13 Oct – 10 Nov) will explore different writing techniques to use the power of words to help reduce stress and calm the mind. These sessions are for you to relax and no experience in dancing or writing is necessary.

Adult Theatre Makers: Women’s Project (13 Sep – 15 Nov) will focus on creating a space for a community of creative women to come together and develop a new piece of work that will voice the unheard stories of anyone who identifies as a woman. Sessions will be led by the experiences shared amongst the group, but the work will be supported by developing various processes such as confidence building, physical theatre, character analysis, and script and vocal techniques.

For those interested in dance, there is a fabulous range of sessions from Jazz and Musical Theatre Dance Workshops (Fri 16 Sep, 7 Oct and 18 Nov) where you can practise jazz dance techniques. Also on offer is Northern Ballet- Over 55s Workshop, which will see participants learn from the professionals right on the Theatre Royal stage!

Norwich Theatre’s Creating through Motherhood programme has been designed to encourage mothers at any stage in their journey to dedicate an hour each week to creative activity, express themselves and form support with other mothers. The series starts with writing (7 Sep – 5 Oct), where a female writing practitioner will provide ideas on how to express yourself through writing and feel the benefits of putting pen to paper. The next in the series is Making (12 Oct – 9 Nov) and will see participants make a storybook and will focus on the experience of being a mother.

Every kind of mother and non-binary parent of any age is welcome. We also welcome bumps and babes in arms. However, there will be no provision for toddlers, older babies, or children. The focus of these sessions is you, as a mother.

Your little ones won’t miss out with our Music and Movement for Babies and Toddlers (9 Sep – 18 Nov). These sessions feature multi-sensory props to help your child explore moving and dancing to great music. For those who love to sing, why not kick off your weekend with some joyous family fun with the Family Choir with Come and Sing (1 Oct)?
